When I picture the everglades I think of a Snook. They are sly and deceptive hiding right before your eyes. They live in a vast verity of places form the clear water of Islamorda/florida keys to the muddy and tannic waters of the everglades and flamingo. A snook in a prized gamefish that puts up a wonderful fight on light spinning gear or fly. They can be targeted in deeper areas with live bait or blind casting but can also be fished for on the shallow flats and around the mangrove islands that litter florida bay. A well presented lure or fly to a snook may be received with what can be an explosive eat. They can be a very visual fish to target and a great challenge for both the beginner or seasoned angler.
